What is a stylus?
A stylus (needle) is a replaceable part of some cartridges, mainly MM types, that tracks the record groove. A high-quality replacement stylus improves detail, reduces distortion and helps protect your records.
When should you replace the stylus?
Replace the stylus if you hear distortion, sibilance, loss of detail or if the usage time is unknown. Inspection can be done under a microscope or by a professional service center like Phono.cz. Regular replacement helps prevent record wear.
How to choose the correct stylus
The stylus must match your cartridge model. If you are unsure, check the cartridge label or your record player documentation.
